Healing Mother Earth, Healing Ourselves.

Stepping into the land where birds sing, butterflies flutter, and rainbows shine, one must feel so lucky to be alive to witness such natural beauty. That is what we feel like, living on an organic farm in a remote part of Thailand. It’s here where natural wisdom lies in the mundane. And the deep trust in Mother Earth heals our mind, body, and soul.

With Earth Day coming up this month, we would like to dedicate a post to this very topic: why healing Mother Earth is also healing ourselves.
Interdependence
One can argue that we are not Mother Earth, we are a species living on this planet called earth. It’s given to us, and we can use it however we want. This worldview gives us one side of the picture, a side that sees living and non-living beings as independent of each other, as us versus them. However, the reality is all, living or non-living beings, are connected. Our choices have an impact on the environment. And the environment, in turn, affects our lives.
Through the webs of perpetual relationships, we are all a result of each other.
True independence cannot happen without acknowledging the interdependence of things.
And it’s this interconnectedness that makes us thrive on Mother Earth.
Microcosm of Mother Nature
Humans to the planet earth are like cells to the body, and each of us is a representation of Mother Earth herself. We can see wholeness within the parts and deduce parts from the whole.
We are a microcosmic embodiment of the macrocosm of Mother Nature. Under this light, our body is like an ecosystem full of geographical features: rivers flowing through the lymphatics and veins, rocks and mountains constructing our bones, lakes pooling in our joints, winds blowing through our lungs, and fires burning in our heart and stomach.
And when we heal ourselves from within, our Mother Earth is also healed.
We are ONE.

We and Mother Earth essentially are the same being.
We breathe her air. We drink her water. We eat fruits and vegetables grown from her land. She has nourished us since the very beginning of our life. Our body is full of Mother Earth’s elements, and in a way, this very Mother deserves our respect.
When we take care of her, we are also making sure that what we take in, inhale, ingest or consume is not going to harm our body. Hence, by tending to our Mother, we are also taking care of our bodies at the same time.
When our inner world is healed and the internal well is full, we are able to take in the nourishing elements from mother earth properly. Our bodies can be healthy and happy from the inside. When she is healthy, we in turn are healthy. And we will realize that there’s no real difference between us and our Mother Earth because we are one and the same.
By understanding these principles, we are now more ready to take on this journey of self-healing, which is the same path as healing our planet.
When we reconnect with the land, we allow ourselves to enjoy the little birds’ songs, the sound of the cicada, the noise of water flowing, and the rainbow sky at dusk and dawn. We start to let the world heal us. We can allow our mind and body to focus on the natural world in the here and now and forget all the duties, fears, and worries that we always carry with us.
Stop thinking about the unknown. Start feeling the unconditional love that Mother Earth has been passing to us all along at no cost. Allow that love to flow within yourself, your body, and outwards to others around you.
And with that love, we all will be healed, and so will Mother Earth.
Happy Earth Day 2022 Everyone.
